So I bought an XPS 9550 in early May but returned it shortly after receiving it because of a hardware defect. Dell told me that they will refund my money with 15 business days of receiving the laptop back. They received it back on 24th May, and 15 days since then 14th June. It's not 21st June and still still haven't refunded everything. On 1st June they refunded the charge for the 3 year Premium Warranty that I had purchased with the laptop, but they haven't refunded the rest (about $2400!). What do I do ??? Whenever I talk to them they make me wait for 10-15 minutes and then just say they need more time and that they'll "expedite" my return !
Need help!
I swear I'm never doing business with these idiots again !

Dell had received the laptop, and it is in their hands now. So what this means is that they are obligated to refund you the money. They cannot forget about the refund, or they will be in deep trouble. It is possible that they are processing the refund through their system, so it does take some time. I'd call them up again, but this time, ask to talk to a higher up like a manager. Then explain what's going on, and I'm sure they will explain what's going on. Good luck!

Eh... it may take some calls. I have one return outstanding from October of 2015. I have documented my calls to CS to take care of it. Luckily it was only a tablet but if it hits a year, I will have one of my buddies who practices consumer protection take the case.

I had this problem with a system about a month ago. No refund after 3 weeks, and calling meant an hour long wait. Sorry, I'm not wasting my time on that when they dropped the ball. I started a charge back with my amex and within 24 hours someone called apologizing and issued my refund.
hmscott and alexhawker like this. -
Ha! It lights a fire under them, but it is really disappointing we have to do it...

Well, charge backs didn't just pop out of nowhere, they exist because of BS like this.
EDIT: wow, language filter lol -
Wow, Oct of 2015? I wouldn't even wait 2 weeks. 90 days is the charge back limit for most credit cards. Beyond that you're at the mercy of the merchant. I'd file a lawsuit now, before they bury all the evidence. Large corporations tend to have a habit of "archiving" older data, your ticket might not even be accessible to customer service agents after 6 months.
P.S. Should mention that where I'm from, if you have a valid case, lawyers goes after the defendant for legal fees. -
I have written documentation that they received the laptop back in good shape... I am not too worried. I really do need to get on this now though... I am not going to lie... I have not kept up with it at all and besides my 5 calls to them over the course of 6 months, I should have done more. Either way, thanks for the reminder bump
Dell won't refund me my money !!
