Dell won't sell me a 3 or 4 year warranty for my m1530.

I recently cancelled an order purchased via EPP because of the many delays and because I wanted to alter the configuration. This first configuration had a 4 year warranty bought and paid for.

I was on the phone with EPP sales when the rep told me that I could not buy longer than a 2 year plan for my system... what gives???

they said they would still give me the 12% discount that comes with a 3 or 4 year plan but that they could only sell me a 1 or 2 year plan.

Does this have anything to do with the faulty GPU's? I'm not sure if two years is enough given all that's been happening, I'd feel a lot better about paying $80 more and having that much more peace of mind.

has anyone else been told this or are they BS'ing me?

Actually, that particular slckdeal is what I used to configure my order on August 2nd. My first order was made entirely online and I opted for the 4 year warranty. The order got pushed back to an ESD of September 12th; I decided if I'm going to wait that long I may as well make a few changes that I had been holding off on since my original ESD was only a day away.

Anyway, I cancelled and reordered with my desired changes. But the order got kicked back.

So I did it over the phone and again I could not place my order.

Finally I call EPP again and this particular sales rep upon hearing my member id said "okay, so you're probably calling about the warranty thing"


Long story short... Florida residents are not eligible for more than a 2 year warranty because of some specifics that the state requires them to do during the third and fourth year... or so the story goes.... this I guess is a recent development because it hasn't trickled to all the sales agents and deffinitely isn't at all noted on the dell site

 

Wow that's pretty lame. Then again, I would probably blame the state for making those weird laws.

 

I thought after purchase you could extend your warranty.

But funny how they dont give a price on the net for this.

I am trying to extend right now, but cant phone as am in work and the warranty sales people only work 9-5 funny thats when most people work.

Tried emailing but guess what they say I have to phone and speak to someone.

That is really weird, I can extend my warranty up to 4 years, even in Florida
