A few weeks ago I bought inspiron 1520. I was having problems with the text being reddish color, bleed, shadows. Anyways I returned it the next day.
They received it a few days later. I paid on my dell acct.I returned it within my 21 days as per it was the next day after I received it. Now i paid $400 before I was billed. Nice guy I am.They did credit the account, but will not return/refund $400 to me by mail. DSo now i cannot get another brand computer if i wanted to. I guess i have to file a class action or speak to a lawyer. There was no restocking fees as per dell told me. I want my money!

Is there a credit balance showing in your DFS account?

Have you talk with a supervisor yet?

if you paid by credit card you can only get refunded via credit card. They will not and cannot send you a check.

Apparently it seems it is a dell account. So technically my $400 is missing.
My account is credited i believe. The point is they owe me $400 i sent by check before i even received a bill.
Now i am stuck. I wanted to open a gateway acct and try the new series.
I am still out $400. So if i order another inspiron im screwed because i dont have that money to lower my price.

If i reorder another laptop then they should just take $400 off the credit card.
If i order $1300 inspiron 1520 then i should only owe them $900 not $1300.
A new laptop for $1300 and no $400 credit then i still owe them $1300. Where is the $400 then? I cant breath

    First and foremost, breathe!

Then call up Dell and talk to them. Make a clear case of your problem.

If the check is not paid, you can stop payment on it if above method doesn't work.

I'm not sure I understand the situation. Was the original $400 part of the payment plan for the laptop? How much did you originally pay them? Did they even get the check and cash the check as part of your payment?

Don't buy a gateway warranty...they will not honor it. My laptop was broken when they shipped it to me and they charged me for the damage. They would not let me return it saying I intentionally damaged it. It has a 1 inch crack along the bezel. Gateway's warranty coverage charged me $350 to replace it, and it was returned to me in a water soaked box. I refused that and it was then sent to me in a good box...but it ran for a few hours before it burnt up. Insurance covered it after discovering the laptop was soaked and the circuits were rusted on the inside. Terrible experience. Reported to BBB but gateway has a hand in that and said that I had no warranty on that laptop.

Did you speak with Dell? I presume they credited you back everything except the $400 check?

Speak to Dell directly. Call Dell Financial Services and give them your order number and customer number. Also give them your RA number. Ask to speak directly to a manager at that department. Make sure you get thier name and extension number in case you have to keep calling to get a status on things.

I have a feeling the OP is either dumb or don't know how to explain himself correctly. What do you mean dell won't refund you? If you purchased a dell laptop with your dell dpa account then they will credit you back to your dell dpa account. Simple isn't it. Just because you sent in a payment for $400.00 doesn't change the fact that it was originally paid for by your dell dpa. You should have a credit on your dell dpa account of postive $400.00 if I understand you correctly and dell credited back your returned laptop. Just call dell DPA and have them cut you a check for the positive credit on your account or buy something from dell using your dpa account.

There should be a number on your statement or invoice to call in about your account.

Just because they credited my account I am still out $400. If i purchase a $1100 system i owe them $1100. Where they need to send me a check for $400 then i purchase another system. Technically they should mail a check to me so i can purchase another laptop from another company. Now i am stuck with dell lost my $400 payment. That is the bottom line.

If they credited your account $400 then why would you owe them $1100 if you bought a laptop worth $1100...

The dell account has a $4,000 limit. I ordered laptop for $1,100. Sent a payment of $400 before I was ever billed. Returned the laptop the next day after I received it. Yes, the dell account is back to $4,000, but they owe my $400 check that i made a payment of.

Its like starting from the beginning. I applied for a dell account, got approved for $4,000 limit. Ordered a laptop sent in $400 check to the account dell financial before I was billed so I would not spend my hard earned money.
Receieved the computer, sent it back, wait for check. Pretty simple.

Now if they dont issue me a refund for my payment that they owe me i have to seek action another way. That $400 money is mine not Dell's.

Cancel your account. The credit is from funds you sent them which they were'nt entitled to. I don't see how they THEN wouldn't be obliged to send you the check.

I dont get it. Why did you send the $400 payment before you were billed? Maybe they don't accept payments that way? Or maybe they never got it? Or they just don't consider this $400 part of your laptop payment?

Okay, first breathe - they did not steal your $400 at all. First you paid a portion of your "bill" before even receiving the system - let alone the actual bill. Two, you didn't pay Dell a dime...you paid Dell FINANCIAL SERVICES. Totally different everything there, it's like a credit card. With that being said, you must not have extreme experience with credit cards. If you have a balance on your account, after a period of time (30-90 days) of having a balance on your account, you are issued a check. This time differs with every company, however SOME companies will issue a check before then after placing a phone call about it. Now I'm not 100% sure from what you have said, but you CANNOT call Dell about this...you need to call Dell Financial Services. You can find more information here:

    http://www.dellfinancialservices.com/

Canceling your account won't speed things up too much, if at all - so don't even bother threatening or anything like that. If anything, you did this to yourself - another solution would be just buy another system and that same $400 would be applied to the new purchase. But soon enough, you WILL get your $400 back...that's just the way credit companies work, and it's not DFS alone.
