I put my firewall down for 1 min and i think I got a virus or trojan. Random popups keep coming up on my computer and it is verrrry slow. I scaned for viruses and trojans and the computer found alot of trojans and removed them. However it did'nt help and it is still really slow and pop ups are still coming up. Should I reformat my computer? How can I get rid of this problem. I am at college and need to write a paper but cannot because of my computer.

    Thanks for your help

The pop ups could be spyware or adware rather than a virus. Have you tried an anti-spyware program like Spybot to see if it detects spyware?

It might be faster to reformat the computer than clean it if you have your Windows disc or a restore partition. But you'll lose your data.

If you want to try to clean out the malware, the Bleeping Computer forum has a lot of information on that sort of thing.

You can also get help at the Tech Support Forums HijackThis Log Help. The people at both sites are very good.
