    Dell xps140 or HPdv1000???

    OK, so I'm pretty new at the laptop thing and will be buying my first one real soon. I think i've narrowed it down to 2 laptops (but am willing to check out other). I'm lookin at the dell xps 140 and the hp dv1000. I chose those two mainly cuz I'm looking for something that isn't too big. Something that i can pack around all day at school and not die, yet something that is big enough to enjoy a dvd or two. I think i've figured out that i can either one at about the same price. From what i've gathered the dell might out do the hp in performance, but i'm not really even sure of that. I'll mostly use the notebook for school work, internet, music and dvd's, and the like. Nothing TOO big. I'm not a big gamer, but who knows...i could in the future like a game or two. But thats not really the important issue to me.
    Bottom line... you all sound like some of you really know what your talking about. Do any of you have valid oppinions on which of these two machines is better?

    Also, any oppinions or experience with the software that is opptional on teh systems? Namely the Mydvd software, and the photo editing stuff? Is it worth it? Good software or would it be better just buying other?
