A while back in June, Dell announced a premium line of products to be launched this fall. I just missed my third chance at getting an XPS2 for 40% off, and since it's running far too close to school, I'm just going to wait it out for Dell's next big thing.

Does anybody have any leads on when this new line is coming out and what the products will be like? Is it really true that Dell's working on a 19 inch model? Will the top of the line model include a Nvidia GeForce 7800 Go or "just" the 6800/6800 Ultra since the former may not be ready by then?

Supposedly the line will be release sometime this fall, and yes it is true that Dell is working on a 19in screen. Not sure when the model will be release but its not anytime this year. Not really sure about what the new line is going to include. These are going to be pretty high end models, so I imagine they will have the best of everything at the time of their release.

yeah, we had an article about it awhile back. Abaxter broke the news on here about Dell, and I think they were developing or expermenting with a 19in. I can't even imagine how heavy that thing will be.

The sad part is, it will probably still weigh less, produce less heat, get better battery life, run faster, and ultimately cost less than the HP zd8000 or Sager NP9880/Alienware Area-51m 7700.

Well, maybe not sad for those who plan to buy one...

All I have to say is that Dell needs to improve screen quality. I had mine right beside a Sony 17" Viao, and the Sony kicked the truelife in the rear. But the good thing is I only paid $2200, and he paid $3700.

I thought it was towards 2007 that it would be released....i think it was suppose to be developed sometime during 2006, but i could be wrong.

This is the most informative article about it that I've been able to find. Says they are due out this fall and talks a bit the look (like the XPS initially) and enhanced service.

Chances are, the Lexus notebooks are going to be a lot more future proof than the 9300 and XPS Gen 2. I would say wait. The XPS2 and the 9300 are only going to get cheaper as time moves on. I wouldn't be surprised is Dell moved the base price down from $2300 to $1700 on the XPS 2 once they stop issuing this 40% off coupon.
