So I've been buying Dell for years now.

Last year, sister got a 1405 with a grainy screen.

Wife got a 1405 with a grainy screen as well.

Brother got a 1705 with a grainy screen.

Other people in the family recently started buying HP notebooks and the screens on those HP's are awesome.

I decided to buy a 17" HP and it was great. Beautiful, thin, light, but wasn't happy with the 1400 X 900 resolution.

I then chose to buy another Dell. This time a 1720 WUXGA.

    Guess what?

    Damn grainy screen again!

Let's hope HP gets going with the 1920 X 1200 resolution soon!

Why not Toshiba, Acer, Asus, and Sager? Just keep on returning them until you get one that's non-grainy.
