    Guys,

I had the LG for 9 months. I broke it twice..and had it replaced the first time with the LG and the 2nd time with the samsung. I want the LG lcdbut they upgraded me to the LCD led back lit.

Wich one is better? And why? I know it cost considerable more money for the LED vs the others. I want to make sure i am getting a good upgrade, or if the LG should be the LCD of choice?? Thanks for any advice in advance,.

    ~Gary~

LED is made by only one company Mei something I think so the quality is pretty consistent. KEEP IT. The brightness is 10x better then a normal LCD and it helps with battery life- and makes the screen thinner.

has anyone seen the wonderful LG LCD's as well as the LED? I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IF THE LED PICTURE QUALITY WILL BE THAT MUCH MORE SUPERIOR?

I own the lg and was very happy with it. i saw the regular lcd by samsung and it was horrible. I am just hoping that the LED will be an upgrade visually, from the LG LCD, to make it worth while. I know you goto a regular VGA cam as oppose to the better cam u get now with the LG Lcd.

You personally see the LG to make that assumption, Westcoast? Does the LED have a great 180 degree viewing angle like the LG? Does it eliminate the screen door effect, grainyness like the LG does, wich was the biggest problem with the samsung? I like brighter, but it's worthless if it still is grainy..

    Thanks West...

I have 5 friends (at work and just friends). 2 have 1920x1200 lcd. 1 has the LG 1400x900 lcd. And my friend and I have the LED 1400x900. The LED has a slightly better viewing angle- the brightness really eliminates glare- both of us have ZERO graininess.

For perspective. I work in a hospital and there are a lot of docs who use their MB and MBP and they all saw the LED M1530 and were like damn that is an amazing screen.... oh and then I turned the brightness up all the way :p

Higher brightness does not equal better image quality.

I for one do often not like what LED backlights do to the colors of a screen, but I've never seen this Dell screen.

I had LEDs on Sony SZ and MBA that make colors a bit pale.

Well, I found it very subjective though. Yes, LED screen it better but not like 10X better or blow away a good cclf screen. I have seen MBP and MB Air screen. I would say LED is better than cclf in overall around less than 5%. Black looks darker and the screen is a little brighter but not by a wide margin.

I have an LG WSXGA+ LCD screen on my Vostro 1500. I have not used an LED-backlight LCD screen before but I have used many and own several other LCD screens. I am totally satisfied with this one, this is the best LCD screen I have seen.

For a variety of reasons I'll never buy another screen that uses CCFLs.

Besides the reasons mentioned, they also last basically forever (versus fading noticeably) and they don't emit UV radiation.

Plus, they look sooooo much better from my experience with them.

Yeah, seriously, after using LED... just looking at my screen compared to all the previous laptops I've owned, even one thats about a year old also Dell... they all look very dim. After seeing the LED screen, I can't believe I could even use CCFL displays. The clarity, colors, contrast, the difference is literally shocking. I think I'll pass on Montevina. Maybe when Calpella comes around they will have LED WUXGA's or LED WSXGA's by then. :)
