Yep, there is a manufacturing centre in Nashville, but the Dell as a company is headquartered in Round Rock.

If you're from the east side of the country Tennessee is likely where your laptop will ship from, not sure about the west half.

Boxing typically is like 1-3 days, but can be longer.

US notebooks are assembled in Malaysia though, if that is what you were wondering about...

    Dell is a 7 day/week operation. They ship 6 days a week.

I believe 'boxing' actually means getting shipped from Malaysia to a location (either Round Rock, TX or Nashville, TN) where it gets the OS installed, final testing and then boxed, with documentation etc. It definitely takes a couple days.

According to this article, everything - assembly, software installation, testing, boxing - takes place in Malaysia.

    Ummm... Dell?

Depends on which line. In the past, Compal made the Inspiron line, Quanta the Latitudes. I haven't heard much recently to say that's changed.

I believe ASUS was rumoured to be the manufacturer of the XPS M1330, although I'm honestly not sure where I heard that - it may have been just a rumour.

Ah, correct - I was mistaken on the OS and testing part. Guess it's just the shipment time from Malaysia and actual boxing in TX or TN.
