Alright guys well I want to flash the BIOS for my Inspirion 1520.
Unfortunately when you run the Flash Utility from Windows it nags you to plug the battery and Ac power in. I always have my laptop plugged in so I put the battery somewhere and I can't find it now LMAO
With that said I was wondering is there any way to disable that stupid nag or flash the bios. Dells other option aside from the Windows exe is to use a floppy disk and boot from it. What moronic Dell doesn't realize is these modern systems don't use a floppy drive anymore.![]()

As far as I know.. there is no way around it. One thing you could do is get a UPS with USB connectivity and have that plugged in.. but that really isnt worth going to the trouble just for a silly BIOS update.

Yea I didn't think there is a way around it.
I know its a silly little bios update but I just like to keep up to date. Im funny like that LMAO -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
The reason they do that is if the power goes out during the flash, the battery will keep the process going, same as they wont let you do it on battery alone in case it poops out, loss of power during a bios flash = a brick or large expensive paperweight. I dont know about Dells utitlity, but most flash programs now can be used via a usb flash memory device.

There is no way around it without buying a new battery. Why not just leave it plugged into your laptop all the time? It will more likely die from 0 charge than from being 100% charged the whole time.
