Okay so after making that whole returning thread. I was just wondering how much of a pain in the butt is it to return a dell. Will I get a restocking fee for explaining about the audio port, the grainy screen, and the noise coming from the motherboard?
How long does it take them to refund my laptop? And do I get it all back? Do I lose tax?
Thank you.
I want to see if its worth all the hassle to return my laptop. If it is such a big hassle than i wont.

21 days from ship

Total Satisfaction is still 30 days from ship. Contact them and they will send you a mailing label and arrange pickip. You get 100 percent back. Ive copied and posted the sites warranty issue for this about 3 times in the last two days. Go to dell and type in 'Total Satisfaction'. Also, i have done this...there is no prob whatsoever.

It may be 30 days in Canada, but I was told 21 days by two reps in the US. However, it was really simple to have my return scheduled. He asked what was wrong with the computer and then scheduled a pick up. Now, UPS tried to pick up at the wrong address so I had to get them to retry next Monday, but that's not Dell's fault.

What you are reading has a caveat "some Dell products" which also lists a restocking fee under it. This is what you need to find:
"Total Satisfaction" Return Policy (U.S. and Canada Only)
If you are an end-user customer who bought new products directly from a Dell company, you may return them to Dell within 30 days of the date of invoice for a refund or credit of the product purchase price. If you are an end-user customer who bought reconditioned or refurbished products from a Dell company, you may return them to Dell within 14 days of the date of invoice for a refund or credit of the product purchase price. In either case, the refund or credit will not include any shipping and handling charges shown on your invoice. If you are an organization that bought the products under a written agreement with Dell, the agreement may contain different terms for the return of products than specified by this policy.
To return products, you must call Dell Customer Service to receive a Credit Return Authorization Number. Refer to "Getting Help" in your Installation and Troubleshooting Guide to find the appropriate telephone number for obtaining customer assistance. To expedite the processing of your refund or credit, Dell expects you to return the products to Dell in their original packaging within five days of the date that Dell issues the Credit Return Authorization Number. You must also prepay shipping charges and insure the shipment or accept the risk of loss or damage during shipment. You may return software for refund or credit only if the sealed package containing the diskette(s) or CD(s) is unopened. Returned products must be in as-new condition, and all of the manuals, diskette(s), CD(s), power cables, and other items included with a product must be returned with it. For customers who want to return, for refund or credit only, either applications software or an operating system that has been installed by Dell, the whole system must be returned, along with any media and documentation that may have been included in the original shipment.
This "Total Satisfaction" Return Policy does not apply to DellWare products, which may be returned under DellWare's then-current return policy. In addition, reconditioned parts purchased through Dell Spare Parts Sales in Canada are non-returnable. -
No, I'm not reading it. Representatives on the phone are saying it.
-
I know what the Reps say. What I pasted was taken right off Dell warranty section of the website.
For some reason, Most dell Reps always refer to the 21 day general warranty which seems to oversee everything. For you to get a confirmation from them, you either have to send this to them or speak directly with the 'Total Satisfaction Return Team'
There are about 4-5 lengthy forums I have been involved in on the Dell site where, in the end, a Dell Rep confirms. -
what is all this mumbo-jumbo. Okay look here's what i did.
Order Date:7/6/2007
Shipped Date:7/13/2007
So your saying I have 21 more days from my ship date or my delivery date.?(Before I cannot return it)
-
Its from your ship date which i believe is also the invoice date.
-
Yes, i believe i read this somewhere else on this forum.
And its 30 days for Vostro, i believe -
Ah, that's interesting. Quite frankly I'm sure the average person would rather just stick with 21 days than argue it out with Dell
. Heck, if you wait until day 22 to start arguing, you might not get it resolved before day 30!
-
There is actually no arguing. All you need to say is that you dont like the system. There doesnt have to be anything wrong with it whatsoever...
and yes I see your point but if the time frame is that important, he needs to call the total Satisfaction team and get it from the horses mouth -
I meant arguing about 21 days versus 30 days
