So I contacted Dell's Tech Support about couple issues I have with my Vostro 1400 (received 2 weeks ago). I explained my issues to Tech Support and they routed me to Customer Service to start a system exchange process. I talking with Customer Service, they stated that I would received a brand-new system; however, if I had contacted them tomorrow I would received a refurb system and not a brand new one.

Does anyone know if this is standard policy for Dell with their Vostro line or were they confuse with their policy?

    TIA

There is a big line of distinction here: the 21 day return period. Any replacement parts/systems ordered before 21 days post-invoice must be brand new by Dell's own policy. Any after the 21 days mark is refurbished as per the same policy. I'd wager you are straddling that 21 day line right now!
