While I'm still a fan of Dell, who ever is in charge of releasing updates needs to be fired at Dell, these updates are worthless

The Video update driver for the intel 4500 video is crap still Areo problem
the A08 bios update fixes the video it seems but cause about 5 other problems

few windows 7 drivers in all

When I flashed to A08 video worked ok but I could not update and install a newer video driver, when I could get one installed my screen went WHITE! yes I have never seen such a mess before.
Also the fan ran all the time, like the system was stressed.

My advice is to not flash to the A08 and stick with the A07 bios

With the A07 I tweaked my system for the video its working fine and the fan does not run all the time. The temp is stable.

Dell needs to shape up or loose more and more customers and get a muddied name!

Ok I reflashed the Bios yet again

A07 was not great and now I decided to use Dreamscenes with Win 7 and I need the updated Intel driver, the updated driver with A07 does not work so back to A08 I thought give it another chance.

Did this this morning and all is well.

I see no responses on this thread but I'm posting anyway, someone may benefit from my tinkering.

The last time I tried A08 my fan was running a lot and at full speed, this time its not happening so maybe the first time something went wrong?

    I will update you.

Are you updating the "Dell 1555 Intel T4200 3gb ram 250gbHD intel 4500MHD LG 720p LED Win 7 Ultimate 64 WEI 3.4" in your signature?

    Yes I did

I had the problem with the GM4500 video card like others
fixed it with an older Vista driver and remove Blur registry hack, when you put win 7 video drivers on it comes back so I tried the A08 flash 1st time = fan problem, it ran high speed all the time. ( that's when I was pissed and posted this thread)

Back to A07 for a week and then decided to try to flash to A08 again, and now both the video and fan are working proper.

I'm wondering if the first time I flashed the bios to A08 something went wrong?

i haven't read anything in this thread, but I agree on the topic. IDT sound drivers for Dell Studio 1555 (win7) are messed up. No one should install them. PC acts slowly waiting for the dead sound drivers. And I mean 10 min waiting for shutdown because it has to play the logoff sound kind slow!

Not sure if you did an upgrade, clean install, or if your system came with Win7. However, I did an upgrade to Win7 with my inspiron 1525 and kept the Vista drivers. Everything works just fine. I was told a while back that most Vista drivers would be compatible.
I didn't need to go to Dell downloads to update anything it seems. I guess I won't try to fix what isn't broken yet.

    Good Luck getting everything tweaked.

I beta tested Win 7 on an older Dell notebook (D420) and then bought this one and installed the retail Win 7 instead of Vista home premium.

The issues are with the Intel video card and drivers, simply put the video card is a piece of crap, I'm sooooooooo tired of intel video cards, I do not care if the Windows score says its good, if it dose not work then what good is a score?

intel should make a card that can play games and run a LED screen without problems.

the A08 bios has helped and it seems the video issue is fixed but the IDT sound drivers for win 7, the only way to get the subwoofer to work, has issues, this is true.

Win 7 was in RC mode for over 6 months before release, what in heck was intel, IDT and Dell doing all that time? Years to develop working drivers and what we have to suffer?

This is crap and they know it.

    *update*
Had to install the dell quickset and it started working again.

By any chance are you having an issue with your eject button for the disc drive? Mine stopped working, and I don't know if it's from the bios upgrade or other. Thanks!

@sharpnd: i flashed my bios to a08 yesterday and just realized my eject key stopped working... & dell idt drivers definitly suck a$$ ;) but ive no problems using the vanilla drivers anyway... whats exactly the benefit of bios a08 over a07? is it only related to intel graphics? i have a radeon 4570... ill probably downgrade back to a07 since i got dpc latency trouble too that wasnt there before...
