Just wondering what Dell's policy on making changes to an order that has been placed. I called the automated line at Dell and it's Currently at the Boxing stage in production.

What's the chances that I can get Dell to make a change to my order? I want to add Bluetooth to my Precision M4400 which doesn't seem to have been added to the configurator until recently.

    Hey there,

Sorry, you cannot make changes to an order *once it's been placed* :(

What will happen if you do, is your order will be cancelled...and you have to reorder again. And the boxing stage is the latter stage of production.

    Hope that helps,

    Cin :)

I guess that's my only option. Are they relatively easy to install? Where can I find instructions?

    Thanks for your help!

One more question: does this void the warranty by any chance?

I would call Dell to confirm the part is the one you need, ask any questions I have about the part and installation, and find out if there are any warranty implications.

    Hey,
Wow..I am really surprised that the Rep told you can make changes after the order is placed. If you search the forums here, you will find the answer to that question, mainly a no..you would need to cancel and reorder.

When, I originally placed my order thru the Dell Kiosk (big mistake) for my 1530, shortly after the order was placed ~ I decided to add Accidental Coverage. I contacted my Sales Rep right away, and he said that it could be added without any problems. My order confirmation did not show the add of Accidental. I contacted Dell directly ~ and was told no..after an order is placed, you need to cancel and reorder.

Even, for something as simple as adding *Accidental Coverage* ~ the order was cancelled and a new one placed..right way.

As with, when your order is production/build stages, and DELL has to make a change to it (part on backorder, etc)...They will have to *refresh* your order = Cancel, the order and place a new one ~ with a brand new order number. This also happened to me :( But, all is good now! ;) :)

Anyways, here are some linkys that help understand *Making changes to an order*..direct from Dell's website (both USA and UK).

I hope this helps you, and good luck on adding the Bluetooth once you received your lappy & enjoy it!! ;) :)

    Cin ;) :)
