I was thinking about purchasing a B120 from the dell outlet for like $440 but then I realised I would need to pay shipping of $49, thats just over a 11 percent of the price of the notebook :budget: then on top of that shipping you have to add tax, does this seem a little steep to anyone else?

Its not as bad I suppose if you were buying a more exspensive notebook but %11 shipping seems a bit high specially if you are on a tight budget

they offered free shipping a while ago(they may still do on certain models) but the $25 handling fee always remains. i got my i9300 shipped for $25 and i think it was better than ebay sellers charging $60+.

Postage (or UPS, or FedEx) charges by size and/or weight, not by a percentage of the cost of the item being shipped. You might be getting a great deal on the machine, but the shipping will still be the same for a notebook of the same size and weight with a price of $2500.

Guardian makes a good point, though. Unless you can find a free shipping deal, you're going to have to pay shipping through any manufacturer. They might make some money off of it, but not as much as many eBay-ers try to make! ;)

Its probably wrong just to pick on dell, I'm sure most other online retailers charge similar shipping fees, but I was just thinking that for somone on a tight budget such as myself, having to add another %21 onto a price of a budget notebook for shipping and taxes, makes the notebook less budget, dont ya think?

They could give you free shipping and add $50 to the price if that would make you feel better. And yours costs as much to ship as a more expensive one. I know it's hard to swallow, but it's still a pretty good deal in the end.

Yes, I did notice the same thing. Dell Outlet jacked up the shipping fee from $9 (very recently) to $49 (around last night). That refrained me from ordering one from them. Probably, I'll wait until next week or so.

I returned my unit today (for refund.. i9300). I had to pay for shipping. When the middle-easterner I spoke with from dell told me that i had to cover the return shipping for a shoddy product they sent me, I let him know that I had a $49 handling fee.

He laughed. Nice to see they have a sense of humor. Hope they like me when they find out I stuck the hard drive against the magnet on my sub in my truck on the way to the UPS store.

Yes I found a bargain on dell outlet but by the time I had added shipping and handling it wasnt such a bargain, so I ended up not ordering it
