I'm thinking about buying a Latitude D630 for college this year and I was wondering about the slim adapter for $69 more. Is it worth the extra money? Is the regular adapter really that heavy/big to have the slim one with 40% less weight and half the volume worth considering?

I was reminded about the power adapter by reading about the new T61 on pcmag's site. With them saying how light and small it was rather then the big power brinks some other notebooks use.

Also this would be my first laptop when I get the funds together. I'll probably be using it in my networking/programing classes and going to work.

Not really...the "normal" adapter seems pretty regular to me...

The M2010 is so large, having a slightly smaller adapter isn't going to make much of a difference :)

Is the 90w a/c adapter worth getting? If I remember right, it's used to recharge the battery while its plugged into the notebook. I don't know if this would be useful for me so maybe it might be a feature to pass on.

If its the same size and weight as the regular 65w adapter then it might be worth considering though.

I have both the 65W and 90W adapters and I never carry the 90W adapter with me because it's noticeably bigger and heaver. It may only be 6 or 7 ounces, but the overall size is also bigger.

I'm sure this would be important if you are running a D830 vs a D630 since the power requirements of the two are probably different, but since I'm never that far from a power outlet, I just go with the smaller and lighter one.

I agree the a smaller adapter for the 2010 will not make a diffrence.

haha oh yes it would! If I was taking it between office and home, I might just use one, but otherwise, it's kinda of keep 2 powerbricks + cords around.

Edit: wait your right, that would mean having 2 total anyway if I bought an imaginary slim adapter.
