Hey guys.. been fiddling around on Dell.com for a bit and just wanted to see what you guys thought about the differences between dell.ca and dell.com.
I can't figure out why the pricing is different, both currencies have been on par for a while now and the parts are coming in from Asia. Why do Americans have to pay $25 for a different colour lid on the XPS systems or $150 to add the GeForce 8600m GT.
On the other hand, with the automatic savings, a nicely configured system in the US always comes out to be a bit cheaper than a similarly configured Canadian system.
I also noticed on the US site they spell a lot of things out for you on every page: "Required for blu ray drive", "Largest 7200 rpm drive in the world". The US warranty options also seem pretty good, 4 yr in home service. In Canada, that's a really expensive option.
In the US you select "Build Yours" to configure your system but in Canada you select "Customize it".
Just curious about all that.. they spend a ton of money figuring out what different countries prefer to click on what they offer - I just thought we'd be more similar on a lot of things.

Urgh, I wish that we just used the same site myself.
Everything is always more expensive, even after the big price adjustment when the dollar soared sky-high.
I can understand the warranty thing, Canada has a much lower population that is much more spread out. Having NBD service would cost Dell a heck of a lot more.
As far as the language is concerned, who knows lol. Take a look at Dell Australia. They are different too.
