**THIS IS DELL CANADA RELATED, NOT DELL USA**

I configured online and got the following, just wondering if I can get any discounts on it through coupons, deals, VISA, student discounts (I'm in university), or simply any way to get it for cheaper?

    Thanks in advance.

flamenko, I know of your threads already, but being a lazy bum that I am, I don't want to spend time on the phone talking to them, trying to get deals.

I was more looking for automated deals like coupons, student discounts, VISA perks, etc.

Hahutzy I don't think they have those for Canada. I have not seen it except when the dell fyler comes around and that does not even have it most of the time.

Yea I rarely see good deals on Vostros and Inspirons to begin with, that's why I really needed help to see if any deals exist at all for Latitudes...

Sucks to be Canadian when it comes to buying laptops eh...

Take a quick gander on EBay before buying. I've seen a new T7300 with a similar configuration offered for under that price.

Thats quite a stripped down model. I am sure you could do better importing one from a reputable reseller off of eBay, especially with the high Canadian dollar.

I picked up my configuration, obviously a lot more options, shipped, duties and taxes paid, for $1800 Canadian a few weeks ago when the exchange rate wasn't quite as favourable. Knock a couple hundred off for the D630, obviously.

Yea I strip it down as much as possible because I'll be doing a lot of aftermarket upgrades.

And how's the eBay shipping speed (on avg) compared to Dell's (with standard shipment)? I need my laptop as soon as possible.

If you aren't willing to put in a bit of time/effort, what makes you think you deserve the end results?

You've already got a decent price......not sure how much lower you're going to get. Call Dell, and ask.

Depends on vendor, of course, but given all of the well publicized delays and kinks in the Dell laptop supply chain as of late, there is a fairly probable chance that ordering from an eBay merchant will expedite your purchase compared to ordering direct.

As for aftermarket upgrades, you might be able to find a package on eBay that includes everything or close to everything you are looking for at a nominal cost. Often, you can find a very nice configuration of the D630 or D830, for a reasonable price, but it has a not-so-great quality of network card, etc. But to actually expect to upgrade more than 2 components, IMHO, doesn't sound very economic.
