I was going to buy a new Inspiron and wanted to know the consensus on whether Dellcare Premium with the additional 10% off as well as the accidental damage is worthwhile.

I purchased an extended warranty on my last Dell, however I never used it. I thought the AD would be nice in the event that the computer was dropped...

I got DellCare Plus. IMO it's more bang for your buck--when I was configuring, it was significantly cheaper than the Premium package and the only thing is lacks is Dell on Call, which I will *not* be using. Plus, whether you use it or not, AD is a good feature to have, especially when you plan to keep it ("it" being a budget laptop in particular) for a while.

That said, I bet this guy wishes he had AD...stories like that convince me it's a worthwhile investment...

it all depends if you can justify it, to me its not worthwhile I dont travel often with my laptop outside of the house so I Dont really put the notebook in bad situations that I couldnt fix myself....

I thought about saving the money on a new Dell, but with the 10% off it's hard to beat, especially in the event you drop you computer on pavement, "have a window fall on it," etc.

I have called Dell in the past for minor problems, and they were very responsive despite the fact that you're talking to someone overseas.

Im starting college on September and I got DellCare Plus. I wanted the extended warranty + accidental damage + lo jack protection. I didnt need the 24 hours call feature. Besides, DellCare plus already comes with in-house support so they'll come to you instead of shipping it... no need for other fancy stuff
