Can anyone explain about the memory of the Geforce Go 6800 you can get with the i9300. What exactly is the DDR bit and how does it relate to DDR1, DDR2 and DDR3? Are there different memory options with the Geforce cards? What is best? I want a portable notebook for gaming, the i9300 has been recommened to me.

    From Dell website, customising i9300:

NVIDIA® GeforceTM Go 6800 with 256MB of DDR video memory

    From Nvidia website:

    GeForce Go 6800
    Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Bandwidth (GBps) Up to 35.2
    Fill Rate (pixels/sec.) 3.6 billion
    Vertices/Second 470 million
Memory Data Rate 700 MHz DDR/DDR2
    1100 MHz GDDR3
    RAMDACs 400 MHz

Your choices are more or less RAM, not the type. If you want to game, 256MB is the best for high end stuff like Doom 3.
