I have known things about computers for over 7 years now and I love the marketing technique, the dell coupons. I mean you go ahead and add all of the stuff you want on your new dell desktop or laptop and the price is almost 2500-3000 dollars, when you can get the same thing for a grand cheaper. This is where the dell coupons come to affect. just to attrct a lot more customers and its a great idea, people think thier are getting an awesome deal, but merely the same price as almost every other computer out thier with the same specs. I was bored and just wanted to write this, post comments

no, i'd say that theyre definately better priced. The best part is actually their customizability and options of features imo

2500-3000? If your buying highend gaming notebooks, companies like Sager are cheaper in some cases. But for lower and mid end notebooks, nothing beats a 30% dell coupon deal. You can get core duo 1gb ram notebooks for like 700buck easy. Try finding that deal anywhere else.

Well, Dell's best values are in its mid-ranged notebooks - the two extremes (really cheap and really expensive) is where you notice the least values.

There has already been a post about this in the last week, but here is what I said there in a nutshell ...

I wish the coupons were gone, and they'd just price there laptops normally. It's a lot easier to compare prices when you can compare one to one instead of one to two minus one.

And, Dell has admittedly lost sales because of this "Genius" marketing technique, because it confuses people.

They don't have a good reputation, I would avoid them:

Dell notebooks are less, sometimes considerably so, with the coupons, but HP is fairly competitive with pricing.

Where else can you find a 5900GS notebook for 1250?

The coupon is pretty awesome. However, YMMV depending on configuration.

its a marketing 'gimmick' all right, but it certanly makes a computer shopper a savvy shopper, doesnt it?

No, it makes them think they are a savvy shopper.

    There is a difference.
