I am curious about your experience with delluniversity. I have mine to share here.

I made an online order of an M1330 on 27 Jun 07 via the recommmended discount for my school. At that time there was no tax included in the order and the estimated ship date was 27 Jul. Shortly after I placed the order, i recieved the acknowledgement. The confirmation, however, never came.

I made a few calls in the past few days and the agents asked me to hold out for a while more. Finally, the agent I spoke to today placed my order manually and issued me an order confirmation. But there is 2 differences in my order: I was now charged a state sales tax and the estimated ship date becomes 29 Aug. Whats up with the sudden sales tax? And why didn't it show up before? And the shipment...

About 5 minutes later, I received a call from someone at Dell who asked me for my student ID with my university to verify my proclaimed student status. Apparently they had some sort of database to check that quickly. Did you guys receive any call like that?

PS - I made another call to customer service to demand an expedited production. Given that I was among the very first to place the order, I simply cannot accept the fact that I am now placed at the end of the production queue simply because of their inefficient system. They said they will monitor it and keep me posted. Sigh...its so hard to get to the right people for the right issue I have in Dell.

Ha. I think I know why they need to confirm ur school ID. Its all becuase some morons cheated on delluniversity . You see, only a few scholl has the M1330 deal. So, suddenly, those people began to pretend they are from those school. You are really lucky that you got to order it cuz dell took m1330 off the deal now. Blame alll your problems on those people.

About the state tax, dell usually gives your the tax infomation in the confirmation email. You never know the final price until the confirmation. There is always sales tax when you buy from Dell, unless your state doesnt charge sales tax.

It wasn't a deal they were cheating to get, but a glitch. Did you purchase with the standard 12% (i think).
    or something else?

no sales tax? You must have entered a department purchase area.

You definitely went into the wrong area and probably made a department purchase or something else to get no sales tax.

With that said I don't think anyone else has had similiar issues.

When I ordered they had a box for me to entire my student ID (probably to verify that I was a student) so I'm surprised that you didn't have to give it to them earlier. And yeah, I definitely had sales tax... :(
