Open it and see. Otherwise you won't be able to tell. You can contact the tech assistant but I don't think they will know any better.

Also it might be neither. Sharp is another well known vendor to supply laptop LCD panels. or it could be CMO, AU, Chunghwa Picture Tube...etc

oh my gosh people give such bad advice on this topic, download this, run that, check bios blah blah blah blah blah.

TWO EASY WAYS TO TELL, first off, your laptop has a service tag number, look on the bottom or your dell packin slip, go to dell support online and put the service tag number in the box where requested, after you have logged into your account ofcourse, then after entering service tag number, click on "original system configuration" there is a complete roster of the hardware on your system, the first one or two lines should list the panel manufacturer and model number, LG or Samsung.

ANOTHER WAY is even easier: turn your lcd panels brightness all the way down using the function keys on your keyboard, now one by one, turn them back up , ther are eight settings of brigthness, after turning all the way down, one by one go back up, if between settings two and three there is no change in the brightness of your panel, the lcd panel is an LG, if the brightness changes at all of the settings, then you have a samsung panel.

Powerstrip wont tell you diddly squat!!!!!
