I ordered a new Vostro 1500 a couple of weeks ago. It had it's share of problems. I called CS (5/26) and they said they would build me a new one.
I checked the order status and it was in production for like 4 days. I received the replacement laptop on (5/30) with overnight shipping.
This one also has it's share of problems. Excessive light leakage on the bottom of the screen from left to right. The top lid creaks and pops when you try and close the lid. It's almost like the top lid is not fastened correctly. I just got a weird message when powering up the system. It said that it didn't recognize my AC adapter and that I need a 65 watt adapter for proper battery charging.
The bottom of the didn't have the refurb sticker though. Does it sound like I was given a refurb and should I send it back?
Here's where i'm a little suspicious I just noticed something. It came from Lavergne TN that's where the refurb's come from. I'm now starting to feel I got snookered.

Mine shipped from Lavergne, Tennessee and it was brand new. Lavergne, Tennessee is just one of the places they ship from. I also ordered a new laptop from Dell on a Friday and it was shipped the following Tuesday. That's 4 days including a weekend. It isn't impossible for them to ship quickly if they have all the parts in stock. Yours sounds like it has problems, but that doesn't mean it's a refurb.

Thanks it looks like i'll need to call tomorrow for another exchange.

Yup. That's a weird message about the adapter.

Excerp from "Here is How Dell Notebooks Are Made Step By Step"
"Six days a week Dell charters a China Airlines 747 out of Taiwan and flies it from Penang to Nashville via Taipei. Each 747 leaves with 25,000 Dell notebooks that weigh altogether 110,000kg. It is the only 747 that ever lands in Nashville"

Did Dell send me a refurb instead of a new system?
