I just ordered an i8600, and the processor is listed as: Intel Pentium MProcessor 725 (1.6A GHz)" in my order.

I just read in PCMag that the 'A' probably signifies Banias, but looking through Dell's site, the only description I can find for the Pentium M 725 is that it has a 2mb L2 Cache, which would signify a Dothan proc.

Does anyone know for sure what I am getting here?

It should be a dothan, as far as my reading of the new numbering system goes, the 725 has 2Mb L2 cache and is a dothan, thus if it aint then dell would be up for false advertising.

If you want to be absolutely sure then check the L2 cache size using a utility such as SiSoft Sandra (free download on download.com).

Cool, thanks guys. I called Dell and he said it had a 2mb cache (which is really what I care about), so it should be good.

Once the machine arrives, I'll try running the tool you mentioned Niko.

    Thanks,
