Hello, I was about to buy a dell notebook, but the value for the inspiron 530 was too good to refuse. I got a dual core 2.33 GHZ 4mb Cache, 3 GB RAM 677MHZ, 500GB HD, nvidia 8600 GTS 256-DDR3, and WINDOWS XP(Gotta love DELL) and a 22" Samsung, all for $1192(After Tax).
If I ordered a laptop, I would not got half that and XP alone is worth the price of admission. So, is this a good deal?

Buddy, you can't exactly compare desktops and notebooks.

Need portability? then you are more or less stuck with a laptop. Desktops have always offered better performance value. The price we pay for portability is performance and price.

Dell still offers Laptops with XP...so thats never been an issue.

Lol, everything jaycee pointed out is true. You can get so much value from $1000 in terms of desktops and so little for $1000 in terms of laptops.

Mobility comes at a price. Besides, building a desktop is much more fun rather than buying one.

Yeah. As far as dells go, i guess it was a good deal... Keep in mind a self built machine will prob. cost 20% less, and allow you to customize it as far as you wish(add a SLI motherboard, Raid, more advanced cooling, etc...)

I looked up how much it would cost to build it, its about 50 bucks cheaper, dell gives you a warranty

Good luck getting your computer serviced under that warranty, Dell has had plenty of charges pressed due to scamming with warranties.
