So I'm browsing the threads, and a lot of people seem to have insanely low prices listed for a system similar to the one I'm waiting for.
Can anyone give some tips for saving some money through the ordering process? I found a $300 off Ecoupon and used that. Any other ideas? Let's compare.

The warranties on your system increase the price quite a bit.
950-3339 1 3 Year Limited Warranty
950-5442 1 Warranty Support,2 Year Extended
960-4667 1 CompleteCare Accidental DamageProtection, Inspiron, 3 Year
986-4349 1 Bundle LoJack Theft Recovery Service - 3 Year -
Yeah, but I always get the extended warranties on laptops. Too expensive to fix if something goes wrong. And if you get the accidental damage protection, just conveniently drop it and get a replacement right before the warranty expires

Make sure you try and configure the same end laptop from all possible different starting points.
Usually, there will be at least 3-4 different starting points for each model (you might need to play around on the website to find a page with more than one option - don't just choose it from the start page).
Customise each of them separately. In most cases, you can get them to the exact same system with the configurator, but with different price points. When I (first) ordered my 1720 there were 3 starting points;
- Starting around AU$1500 - End price around AU$3,800
- Starting around AU$1700 - End price around AU$3,700
- Starting around AU$2200 - End price around AU$4,000
So there was a $300 (pre-coupon) difference between the cheapest and most expensive that I could get the exact same laptop for.
Worth the time it takes to find the cheapest option.
