I have done a crapload of searches on here, but not one has led me to a thread that ultimately solved the cpu whine problem. It is embarrassing to have to use it during meetings and things because I know other people can overhear the high-pitched noise.
I have slightly quieted the noise only when the laptop is plugged in by using the rmclock settings in the attached picture, but when the laptop's on battery power, that stupid noise comes back.
    Thanks for your time, all.

I heard it was caused by rapid clock speed throttling, and come to think of it, I haven't noticed it ever since I turned off SuperLFM, whereas I used to hear it all the time before I started using RMClock, so I guess that fixed it for me.

Of course, it might just be the placebo effect. But it never hurts to try :)
