Ok so i got my new dell 1520, 2.2ghz, 2gig ram, 256mb video (8600 i think) anyways, i have been playing WoW a lot recently. like a lot... Well sometimes i play right before i go to sleep on my bed(laptop on lap ontop of comforter with dvds under to space it out) So what im wondering is that my comp has gotten really hot a few times(the exhaust area) and recently i have noticed the game seems kind of glitchy at moments. Not sure if its related. I closed all running programs i could, no luck. Also have not installed anything new since it started happening. Im still getting 60fps but it skips at times.

Is there any way i can check if any damage to the processor or anything else has occured due to getting too hot?

    What else could cause this?

If i leave my laptop on for extended time, a long time, would this cause it to slow down? could a shutdown and cooldown resolve this problem?

Any other opinions are appriciated, please try to stay on topic. Thanks guys/gals

Search around the forums to find ways of reducing system stress; disable certain services, startup programs, tweak the power management, and give your laptop plenty of space to breathe.

Will do for sure, thanks for the input. Is there any way to check if any damage has been done?

    Thanks

Well if your computer were "fried", the effects would be more serious than that. Heat is no real indicator of anything. My M1330 gets so hot it almost hurts to have my fingers at the exhaust after playing Bioshock for a while. Sluggishness could be the result of running a game at settings higher than the system can consistently render. Is this issue happening only when you play games or is it across the system in general?

Its only happening with this one game, and only during some situations in-game. But the thing is that it didn't do this before, just started when nothing has changed...

It could be the CPU ran too hot, and it had to clock down to lower heat, and then the performance was also cut down.
