    Hi All,
I posted a deal I got on Outlet on another thread, here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=234500

I got my service tag today and it looks like the config of the system as it was originally is still in their system.

Anyone recognize it as their own previously troubled laptop? Also, really weird that it came with an X7900 before, and now according to Outlet has a T7200, perhaps it had a bad CPU and they replaced with a cheaper one for some reason and put it back out there? Maybe it was a review system(with an extra battery and backpack, doubt it)?? Maybe I will get the X7900 and it is a mistake? That ever happen to anyone here?

It is listed as original ship date 2/15/2008.

Here is what I see(bunch of junk deleted):

These are refurb machines. Most of them don't have any problems, but sometimes they do and they fix them and sell them again.

I have heard (and experienced myself with refurb purchases from Dell) that this USED to be true, but I am reading some disturbing stuff on forums lately about what a few folks are getting from the outlet (or even with new purchases), missing parts (like RAM, DVDROM, HDDs, WTH??), being delivered broken, etc.

I am assuming that this one must have had an issue with the X7900 of some sort so they dropped a T7200 in it instead. But why? Why not with the same part or at least one step down if there was a supply problem? Weird to pair up the rest of that config which is pretty highly upgraded with one of the lowest proces ever available for the M1730.

Hopefully if that is the case they tested it more than just booting it to make sure that they fixed the problem (pretty rare to have a CPU go bad as opposed to a MB component for example).

I guess I will find out Monday, when DHL says they are delivering it!

I am kind of expecting to see the X7900 because they screwed up in inventory when I check because the other way just doesn't make sense.

Has anyone received their laptop from Dell Outlet with the wrong parts in it? For better or for worse. Or are the outlet system inventories pretty dead on?

I've purchased four machines from the outlet without any problems. They came as described.

I say you're definitely getting a X7900 CPU due to Dell's error on their listing. Congrats.

Boy I sure wouldn't mind that at all, that would be excellent! I have purchased maybe 5 or so systems from Dell from the outlet before and they all matched the outlet descriptions, but then I am pretty sure that the original config via the service tag also matched, so never seen it this way before.

Monday yippee!! I am really stoked about getting this beast. Considering how long I would guess that it takes to ship starting on 2/15 to someones house, for that person to use it and decide to return it (unless it was broken out of the box), then arrange RMA and ship it back, then it gets processed by Dell, then channelled to the outlet where I bought it on 3/26, that it cannot have more than a week or two of usage tops, it has got to be like new. I have had a Gen2, m170, D600, D610, D800, D820, and now this M1730. I have pretty much loved every Dell I have had, and I have never had one this tricked out before either, I could never afford more than the slowest procs, the middle vid card, the smallest hard drives, etc. when I buy the XPS, this is by far the best deal I have ever stumbled across, so I am very much looking forward to breaking this one out :).

Got it this morning... and it does have the T7300, so I got what I paid for (almost, very few parts other than the laptop, I didn't even get a power cord, grumpy about that for sure, will be calling).

What makes me sad is that it still has the "Core 2 Extreme Inside" sticker on the palmrest... so it DID have an X7900. Very weird, why would they down grade it so much? At least throw a T7700 in there! Oh well... I guess the T7300 is still a great proc, better than any other lappy I have had :).

Emm... that probably explains why the price is so low...

You mean the fact that it had T7300 (if so, I agree), or that it is missing all of the standard accessories? If so on the accessories, I ordered on the phone and was assured it would have all standard accessories. I followed up that conversation with an email asking the same question, and got confirmation that it would have the standard accessories, and if it didn't to get with support to request them... so I think I am OK, as long as the follow through.
