I have a M1530 and noticed my cpu sticker is actually a centrino sticker rather than a core 2 duo.. but in device manager it says T7700 @ 2.4ghz core 2 duo. ummm what gives?

Prolly ran out of stickers. No big deal.

The sticker is correct...
The T7700 is a Merom 65nm cpu which is part of the Santa Rosa platform, and thats an Intel Centrino

wow thanks for the rapid responses.... couldnt believe i had this thing for months and just noticed the sticker lol

Well with the M1530, the stickers are probably the last things that you'll look at.
-
In current laptops:
core 2 duo + intel wireless card = centrino sticker.
core 2 duo + dell wireless card = core 2 duo sticker. -
Tip: to remove the stickers get a credit card and start hitting them on the side
-
A Centrino laptop consists of 3 components: The chipset, the processor and the wireless card. Absent any of those 3 components, the laptop may not be advertised as Centrino.
So, in your case, your M1530, no matter how you originally configured it, uses an Intel Centrino-qualifying chipset and processor.
You did have a choice, though, whether or not to take the Intel Wireless card. Since you did, your particular laptop may be advertised as Centrino.
Had you, instead, taken a Dell (Broadcom) or other wireless card, however, your laptop would not be a Centrino, but, by virtue of its Core 2 Duo processor, is still a Core 2 Duo machine, which is why others who did not buy the Intel Wireless card have a Core 2 Duo sticker on their XPS machines. -
I wish they didn't put stickers or make it optional.
I am afraid if I took them off it will leave marks (happened on my old Dell 9300). -
Didnt notice this till now...
