Other than the big items (cpu, LCD screen, HD, ram, etc), which are easily accounted for, are there any significant differences between the 1747 and 1749 Studio 17 units?

I had configured a 1749 in my card, but then saw a similarly-spec'd 1747 avail on the outlet ... wondering whether I should jump on it?

    thank you!

The 1747/1749 share the exact same service manual.

Outside of that, the primary difference is the system motherboard.

    Studio 1749 = Onboard ATI 5650
    Studio 1747 = Onboard ATI 4650

Performance is very close between the two to the point of maybe being a frame or two, but the 5650 does run cooler (~19w vs. ~35w) and is made on a newer die shrink (40nm vs. 55nm).

I have a 1749 coming in Monday. I'll do some comparisons between it and my 1747 especially performance wise with both having the same memory (Elpida 1333) and CPU (920XM) to really note the differences which I am hypothesizing to be ~5% if that (but I could be wrong :) ).
