Is there any difference between the bluetooth module for the 1710 (430-1828) and the module for the 1210 (430-1722)? ...other then $42?

I have a m1210 and I want to add the bluetooth module, but I'm having a hard time figuring out why there's a $42 difference between the two versions.

I called Dell and all they could tell me is the 1710 version comes with 3 parts and the 1210 version comes with 4 parts but they used the same chip. Any clues?

they might be physically different, so that the module can fit into the smaller laptop, but I'm not sure.

I don't think there's difference between two version of modules. I ordered M1710 one and it fitted perfectly on my M90. I really think they have different part number for inventory purpose and for the pricing on items. The replacement parts on more expensive systems, ie M1710, generally cost less then Inspirons.

well the M90 and M1710 are almost identical internally, the M1210 however is much different and much smaller...

If it would've been different design, I seriously think Dell would name it like Truemobile Bluetooth 450 to get the confusion out of the way. They might be selling high tech products and solutions, but one who assembles, and take order might not that smart. ;)

I've just check the service manual. It's the same thing. Here's the link. :)

I just put my 350 from my E1705 into my M1210 with no problems. Working great!
