    Hi!!

Im from Spain and i have some problems with my XPS1530. I´ve contacted with Dell Support and they say that tests results show hard drive failure. Then, i have 2 possibilities:

    - To change the pc and wait for 15 days
    - To change the hard drive next monday

What do you think about the decision?

    take the harddrive...

as this could most likely solve your problems sooner. when there still is a problem you can still send the whole machine in.

Wait to change the complete laptop. This is because the technicians at dell are pretty sloppy and will probably scratch the laptop. Better to wait and get a brand new one that a scratched one :)

if the trouble is with the hard drive, then no need for a downtime of 15 days. u can replace the hard drive only. since the hard drive will be replaced from ur home before u, i dont think theres any chance of scratching it (i replaced the hdd 1 week after buying it). however make sure that rest of the system has no problem. can u post ur exact problems and the tests undertaken here ???

Firstly, thank you very much because i dont know what to do.

I received the following error codes while running the hard drive test:

-0F00:0244 => Uncorrectable data error or media is write protected
    -0F00:0444
    -0f00:1A44

And for the dvd drive test:

-0F00:021B => Flaw in media or error in recorded data

After passing the test i tried to restart my pc but it was impossible because now there are several windows errors that there weren´t before.

This isn't (or shouldn't be) a difficult decision at all.

As has been suggested, simply change the hard drive. There is absolutely no need to send in your whole laptop and be without when swapping the hard drive will fix it, and takes less than 10 minutes. Anyone can do it.....you don't even need a tech.

Save yourself the wasted downtime of being without your laptop, and the potential for someone to damage your laptop by changing the hard drive yourself. It's 4 screws and that's it!
