    Hello everybody,

I have been reading your insightful posts on notebooks, congratulations.

As a result of my nightly reads, I narrowed down my choice to the Fujitsu S6210. I put an order with a reseller, who later told me that the notebook was back-ordered and would take at least two weeks to be delivered. He offered to cancel the order and so did I. Meanwhile I continued my research on my next notebook and found two new models that seem to be good alternatives:

    - Dell 700m and
    - Sony Vaio S Series

I have seen the Sony S VGN 150 at Compusa: it really has a nice screen (wide for good DVD wathing) and I also liked the quality of the audio and the keyboard. However I don't know if the rest of the features is really comparable to the Fujitsu. I've read here about heat, fan noise and overall build quality. I don't know though if the computer has the usual problems that affect Sony's offer: blocked configuration, partition, lots of useless programs, etc.

The Dell seems also OK but I don't have any direct feel of this notebook.

Anybody has an idea of what would be better?

    PS
    My minimum requirements are:
    - cost: up to $2000
    - HDD: Minimum 60 (no preference for rcm)
    - good quality screen, no more than 13.3 inches
    - good audio (for a thin notebook)
    - 802b/g
    - Intel M 1.6
    - DVD/CD-RW
    - Weight: no more than 4.5 lbs
    - XP Pro
    - 512 - 756 mb
    - 2 USB minimum
    - Battery: 3 hrs

    Optional featues:
    - DVD-RW
    - Bluetooth

Can't wait to read some opinion...

If I were you I would look elsewhere for the S6210, Fujitsu makes a great notebook. It is a far better notebook than either the Dell or Sony.

    Thanks Jack,

seems to me that the Fujitsu might be the best choice indeed, especially considering the usage I will make:

    - travel once every two months on a long trip to South America
    - dvd watching (in replacement of a small TV)
    - some small games for my daughter (nothing that draws immense power though)
    - around the house Internet surfing and working

Can I sinc it with my desktop?

    All the best
