If you have already received or have access to a new 1420, 1520, or 1720 with a 9 cell battery, could you measure, using tape measure or some other tool, the exact dimensions of the notebook with the battery? The Dell site does not state the dimensions with the battery, and I'm sure it'd help a lot of people out who are wondering if their notebook will fit in their bags!

    Thanks. :D

Not to hijack your thread, but I have the same question on the 1720. I'd like to go ahead and buy a case, but need to know the dimensions with the 9 cell battery attached. Thanks!

That's a great idea, except some of us live in the boonies, and need to order a case online. Don't know when I will get to the "big city".

There, Ag, added the 1720 in the post but I can't change the title! PS: UT is better ;) Sorry, lol. Had to do that. :D

And as for why we'd like to know the dimensions, some of us already have a backpack that we've previously used, which may or may not hold the computer, so with the specs, we'd know if we can use it or if we have to buy a new one. :)

    Edit: Sounds good, diceecca!

I can't imagine that the 9-cell sticks out on the 1720. That would be silly. I was shocked that it stuck out on the 1520.
