hey ya'll .. I heard that the Geforce 7950GTX does not support DirectX10?
    a) how badly will this affect me in terms of performance?
    b) is there a fix/bios flash that will take care of this, or is it a hardware issue?
    c) is it possible to replace the 7950 GTX later on with a newer graphic card within my XPS M1710, or is it like impossible? (ignore warranty issue)
    thanks!

1.) No one knows at this point, but it's safe to assume that games will still support DX10 for quite some time. (the market is saturated with non-DX10 cards and the gaming industry would lose too much money if they stop supporting DX9 ).
    2.) No, it's a hardware issue AFAIK.
3.) Only if Dell releases a DX10 card for the XPS m1710--otherwise you are out of luck.

    1) No one really knows, like vespoli said.
    2) It is ONLY a hardware issue. DX9 cards cannot be DX10 cards because of additional hardware requirements.
    3) Like he said.

DX10 is not going to be mandatory for quite some time, even now most of the latest high end games today have DX8 and 7 modes, by the time you HAVE to have DX10 hardware, your present rig will most likely be long out to pasture.

The only card out now for any system that can do DX10 is the Geforce 8800 cards. Even then you have to have Vista to take advantage of that as DX10 is only available for Vista right now.
