I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with Windows Vista.
I got rid of the Dell Media Direct partition. I assigned my Home Button to open Windows Mail once my laptop is running Vista.
However, when I press the Home Button while the laptop is off, it will still display the Dell Media Direct intro page and then continue to boot Windows Vista. Basically, it starts up just as it would by pressing the On/Off button except it shows Dell Media Direct instead of the Dell BIOS load-up.
I want the Home Button to do absolutely nothing when pressed while the laptop is off. Any suggestions?
EDIT: By "Home Button", I mean "Media Direct Button"...

dont push it when the laptop is off?
-
Any other smart ideas?
-
Well really i wouldnt think it would be possible unless you could rewrite the code of your bios. Is that smart enough?
-
Well I'm looking for ways to do that...
I went into the BIOS setup and carefully looked at everything. However, I couldn't find anything about that button. -
No, i dont mean as an option in the bios, but actually changing the code and flashing it into your bios.
-
Does anyone know how to do that?
-
Ha, i would not be the one willing to test it! One wrong character of code and your motherboard is dead.
-
Maybe I just won't push the button when the laptop is off...
But on a serious note, if people can boot another OS using it, I should be able to boot nothing with it... no? -
Okay screw everything else, someone please direct me how to boot XP from that damn button.. lol
The search feature is scary grounds on dial-up.
