I placed an order through Dell's University purchase site last night at about 11:30 pm (took advantage of the $600 off the e1505 offer).
Anyway, it's over 24 hours later now and I never got a confirmation e-mail and there's no orders available in my order history.
Is this normal for Dell or was my order lost somehow? I know that I completed it as I got to the review/submit page and submitted and then was taken to a thank you page.
Any insight?

call/email/chat dell

The only problem with that is Dell's support only works until about 7 pm on Saturday and not at all on Sunday from what I can tell. Frustrating to be sure.

patience my dear person. Dell will not drop your order. This is the kingpin of their business- ordering on line. They have it down to a perfection!

I ordered my e1505 on a Friday, and got the initial "your order has been placed and is awaiting confirmation" email within an hour. Then on Sat... nothing, no orders placed online, no confirmation. However, on Monday, both were happily waiting for me when I got to work. So you may get an email on Monday, as long as you recieved that first email. My laptop arrived this past Friday BTW, exactly 1 week after I initally ordered it, pretty good I'd say!

I'd wait to monday, if nothing shows up, i would call them.
Doing something like this, i wouldn't do it over Dell chat. Dell has really proved me how they listen in the online chat. -

It has to be processed on the 'Next Working Day'.

UPDATE: For those who are curious.
The orders are now available to check on-line. I say orders because I placed a duplicate order when it had appeared the first one didn't go through (I only had a few minutes left to order it in time for the $602 off coupon on the e1505 that day).
Both computers are in the "build" phase.
Anyway, because I ordered it through the university purchase system no other dept can cancel the 2nd order and I can't talk to them until Monday. I spoke w/ my CC (they haven't charged me yet) and asked that no purchases be authorized that would put me over my limit (the 2nd comp would).
So... we'll see how this all plays out.. -
You should be fine with cancelling your order on Monday. Dell won't charge your Credit Card until your laptop has been shipped.
