Ok, so I formated to remove bloatware and everything works perfectly. I have all the drivers back up, except for my lcd.

It's working fine, but the driver is shown as default monitor and powerstrip shows no specific serial or model information.

    My lcd = MC887 = LG Phillips LP171WX2 (TL) (A1)

Any idea where to find a display driver for this specific lcd?

Have you tried updating windows? Won't updating windows detect your video and lcd and point you to an easy download for it?

EDIT: Then, don't your display drivers come with a driver for your moniter.

It's just weirdo. Monitor information in powerstrip has no info, no serial #, no model id #, no manufacturer, no date of manufacture.

When I try to force a read by selecting read data directly from monitor under the scrollable options, tells me not available.

Um... Help me understand this a little better. I've noticed there is no mention of a laptop model number in this thread. What model lappy is it? Is it an actually an external moniter.

Mine always says default moniter and if I click on it, it says this

    Device type: Monitor
    Manufacturer: [Standard moniter type]
Location: on ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300

Their is a seperate tab for the actual display adapter driver.

P.S. Usually everything is working fine unless you see either and excamation(sp, I can't spell) point or a question mark.

The driver for LCD's is the video card driver, so you just need to install driver for which ever video card you have. If you've already installed it, and don't have any problems with the display (you would see a huge difference on your desktop if the video card driver isn't installed), then you don't need to do anything else.

It is always going to say Plug and Play monitor or default monitor since there is no specific driver for it.

If you don't see any exclamations or questions marks in device manager, normally everything is fine. If you do see one, thats what needs to be be updated or installed.
