    Anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Display driver atikmdag stopped responding...

It happens when the computer comes out of the sleep mode, not everytime but at least half. It also seems to corrupt the keyboard at times after it happens. When you use the shift key the wrong character is typed. A reboot fixes the problem. Hopefully Dell is aware of the problem...

Any help or a fix would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Update your ATI drivers.

The driver I have now is:

    Driver Packaging Version 8.477-080407a-062909C-Dell

The one on Dell's site is: 8.477.0.0000, A01

It looks like I have a newer version than the one they have up. My machine is only a few weeks old, I guess it is possible they ship with newer drivers than their site offers...

I wonder if I should install the previous version? It might help, any opinions.

I've experienced this with my ATI 4850 but it only causes the computer to stall for a second and recovers. I remember seeing a thread dedicated to this on the forums of ATI/AMD's website.

I've been getting this on my new 1735. I sent the error report to Microsoft which said it was a driver issue that has no known solution at this time.

I took the drastic measure or formatting and installing Vista from the recovery DVD rather ran the Dell factory backup. Installed the bare minimum drivers and let Windows Update sort the graphics card out.

This has installed v8.501.0.0 which is later than the v8.477.0.0 Dell provide on their website.

So far, things have been much more stable in the graphics department - two driver restarts in 5 days where as previously I got a couple a day!

If you haven't already, try Windows Update and install the new driver.

    It may just help!
