I've done every update on Windows Update but I still have problems with Vista, notably putting my laptop to sleep and waking it up (it'll wake up most of the time but not all the time still). I've ran winver and here's what it says:

Says nothing about SP1, and I didn't see any SP1 update installed when I ran Windows Update.

I've had a lot of problems with Vista lately, and it's really starting to annoy me. Last night the laptop would not recognize my iPhone at all when I plugged in the USB, so I had to restart. Just a couple minutes ago, it wouldn't wake up from sleep. Also, I couldn't lower the laptop brightness. Not sure if it's Vista or if it's my XPS M1330. I was hoping SP1 would fix some of these problems. Just not sure if it's installed!

I don't think so SP1 is installed in your system bro and for Windows Update to offer SP1 u need to have all certified drivers are else they won't offer it .

If there is already problems I suggest reinstalling and installing the sp1 before starting to do anything else, while the sp1 improved my performamce when I installed it, it has better effects when I put it on my system directly after doing a clean slate install.

Actually I have reinstalled Vista, immediately after I got the laptop about a couple weeks ago. It'd be a pain to reinstall Vista and all the drivers, but honestly I'm not sure why SP1 isn't showing up on Windows Update. I'm not sure what drivers I'm using that aren't certified, I used all drivers that were provided with Dell.

Thanks for the link to the stand alone SP1...it isn't showing up on the computer or Windows Update for me either. How do I know which driver is causing the problem? How can I fix it?

I upgraded the driver finally and Windows Update is still not finding it. Perhaps another driver?

Start>Right Click Computer>Properties... Under Windows Vista Home Premium, it should say Service Pack 1 if its installed, nothing if its uninstalled.

The usual drivers for stopping SP1 being offered are the Sigamtel Audio driver, the Fingerprint driver for XPS or the Intel Graphics driver for those with intergrated graphics.

Just like when checking if you have SP1, check Control Panel/System to see if it says "64-bit Operating System" in the System/System Type section.
