I recently got a Vostro 1500 from dell, and the only thing i changed was getting a 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS instead of the integrated Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100.

However, i checked dxdiag, and all it says is this
" Card name: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
    Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
    DAC type: Internal
    Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A02&SUBSYS_02281028&REV_0C
    Display Memory: 358 MB
    Dedicated Memory: 0 MB
    Shared Memory: 358 MB"

Thanks in advance for any help

Oops, nvm. What KGann said underneath is a good suggestion. HOWEVER, that doesn't look right at all, you should have 128MB of dedicated memory.

Run a program like GPU-Z, or just open your Nvidia control panel, and look in the bottom left corner for "System Information". Or right click on "Computer", and check device manager. There are many ways to check!

Sounds like you don't have the Nvidia Display Drivers Installed

Log onto dell's support website and enter your service code on the bottom of the laptop,it will bring up a detailed list of all the parts used in your computer, then you will know exactly what you've got.

Vender ID 8086 is Intel and Device ID 2A02 is for Intel GM965 Video Adapter.

Looks like you’ve got the integrated Intel card. To make sure go to Device Manager > Display Adapters, If it lists something like Intel GMA965 instead of NVIDIA Geforce 8400MGS then you’ve got the intel card.
