Looks like it's a tad grainy to me.
Ask for a new one.or a new screen (LG!!) and have someone come out and replace it.

Thanks for the quick reply Polarix. I will call them tomorrow and hope for the best!

I'm quite confused how anyone would be able to tell if a screen was grainy by a picture. If its noticably bad then fine ring dell but to be honest a few months ago these forums were full of " IS MY SCREEN GRAINY HELP MEEE'S!!!" just because they had a samsung screen. To me, nothing looks abnormal with it but from a picture its pretty impossible to tell.

I am using a Samsung like yours, and it is much better than the first screen that I had received. It is not grainy, however the backlighting is still somewhat uneven. Nevertheless I am more satisfied now then when I had the grain. The best way to tell is to get as pure white a background as you can, and then study the image at different angles.
It should be apparent from the start, however you can get your nose a little closer and try scrolling a web browser, if you see a lot of 'gray' dots over the white, but they never seem to move with the image, you got grain for sure. You might also notice that the lighting 'blooms' (is intense in one area but dim / dark in others). Excessive sparklyness is another good indicator of a possible issue. This is due to a problem with the glossy coating of the screen, probably not a uniform coating. Dell has admitted that they currently lack a good standard for their screens which could function as a quality control.
All of these factors are generally hard to notice right off the bat if you are not used to what a quality screen looks like. The symptoms should be fairly apparent right off the bat. If they are not, you are possibly asking for much more trouble then it is worth. I would warn you that while a replacement took care of my issue, it is also possible that I would have received another crappy one. It is a process you may be locked in to for awhile. Consider just getting a refund first in case you want to go to a company that usually makes a nice screen (sony, apple).
I almost forgot to mention that it is really hard to tell from screen shots if their is an issue or not. Usually only side-by-side comparisons seemed to reveal anything here on the web.
Do I have one of the dreaded grainy screens?
