I'm sending in my notebook for repairs after I sent it in to replace parts scratched by a depot technician from a previous repair. This time they messed with the heatsink on the processor causing my notebook to overheat to the point of artifacting in games (multiple times because I thought it was a driver problem at first over a period of hours until I installed temp. monitoring software). I don't know if this caused any harm but should I be asking for new parts if this is the case and they are responsible? This mistake could of decreased the life of my processor and whatever else may have been hurt by the heat.

No you shouldn't be asking for new parts. You should be telling them to give you a new laptop. Tell them that they screwed up and it's their fault. Don't give them anoher excuse to mess up again.

I have to agree with idq00 on this. If you can make you case with them that the overheating was caused by an improperly installed heatsink then you should get a new laptop. Speak to a supervisor if you get nowhere with tech. support.
Good luck. -
My video card died again even after the tech replaced motherboard twice. They just gave me a new M1530. The new ones have a better thermal design.

Sounds like the fan is messed up.
Do I have the right to ask for new parts if technician caused overheating problems?
