Do any of the Dell's offer a Brightview Screen?

Or something similar? Is it standard and therefore not an upgrade option. I ask because I like the Brightview glassy look that the Compaq/HP's have. I have seen it on Sony, and a few others as well.

Yes, the 700m and Inspiron 9200 both offer such a glossy brightview screen.

    abaxter:

I noticed the 700M indicates "12.1" Wide Screen Crystal-Clear WXGA Display" and the 9200 indicates "17" UltraSharpTM Wide Screen Display".

I didn't think the 9200 was a brightview ? Actually I didn't think ANY of Dell's were brightview ? Can you confirm with further info...

    Thanks.

Brightview is HP's term, so let's get away from that. The 700 does have an enhaced display, from what I can tell, the 9200 does not.

I have a 700m. Confirmed that the screen is glossy, similar to Sony's XBrite.

In fact, compared to most other screens it is not only glossy, but more contrasty, with darker blacks and whiter whites. This information tends to get lost when people are talking about this type of screen, since they focus on the obvious fact that the screen is "glossy".

Thanks Niko. I agree I have seen it on the hp/compaq, sonys and a few others. I wish the 700m was a model I was looking for but it is a little small and under powered for my needs.

I agree that while the glossy is the obvious thing people see, it really makes everything on the screen much sharper.

I have fould that Dell calls it crystal clear and appears to be available only on the 700 right now.

VAbills: Glad I could help. Now that the Inspiron 9200 is out, it would seem that there are now 2 models of Dell that may suit your needs for a "glossy" screen.

    Orangize it this way:

    Sharp - DoubleBright
    Sony - XBrite
    HP/Compaq - BrightView
    Toshiba - TruBright
Dell - NONE SPECIFIC (Generic Gloss UXGA)

Windows - The operating system that runs the world.

Toshiba - Quality, price, and features!

Sony X-Brite is called X-Black in Europe. BTW, the i9200 definitively doesn't have a glossy screen like the 700m.
