Best Buy has the 1530 and other Dell models, but its pretty much just the base model I want to say, NVIDIA 8400 GPU and whatever basic processor the 1530 comes with, and those can't be upgraded, you can upgrade RAM and HDD on your own though. They may have a slightly upgraded model, I can't remember, but when I looked at it a few weeks back to get an idea of what it looked like I remember it having a lower end processor and the 8400 GPU.

Yeah BestBuy has the M1530 but it is base and over priced. Isn't there Dell stores now? Or am I getting that confused with the Gateway stores that never worked?

Dell has kiosks, but I don't think you can buy the stuff there, it's mostly for demo purposes. Staples, Best Buy, Micro Center sell Dell. I think even Wal Mart carries them, not sure.

It's not a bad idea...That is what I did ;) I went to the Dell kiosk and played around with the notebooks (til I figured out which one I really wanted) Then, ordered thru EPP ;) :D

And, yes the kiosks are gone now.

EPP is Employee Purchase Program. Basically your employer makes a deal with Dell to get equipment cheaper for its employees. Most universities do this too.

Good idea, but I really hate how they often have the notebooks in those plastic brackets. You can't close the lid! Pretty annoying when you're trying to get an idea of a notebook's form factor.

Okay, I just went and I didn't learn anything. They have the lowest res's for all 15.4" notebooks (WXGA) so I didn't see anything else. And they have it in that case looking thing so I couldn't pick it up or close it or anything. Anyway, I think I'm going with it specs in my sig.

WXGA is about all I can find on *any* 13.3"-15.4" notebooks in retail stores anymore. That and glossy screens. Yuck.

Staples, BestBuy, Costco and WalMart sell Dell systems in the retail channel. BUT BEWARE OF BUYING DELL AT BESTBUY, you will only get support from Dell for the AC Adapter, battery, mouse and keyboard and for initial setup but for any other issues you have to go to call BestBuy which in consequence will refer you to geeksquad and rip you off.

I checked out the 1720 at Staples. I am glad I did...the thing is to big. I wish they would have had an XPS 1530 to look at...but they only had the 1720 and the 1520 or something.

Best Buy has the XPS 1530.
