I bought my M1330 from the Dell Outlet, for the most part it's perfectly fine buying from here. Most of the laptops are returns. The main benefit is obviously price. Downside of buying from the outlet is that it may potentially be defective, have blemishes, etc. that Dell didn't figure out when recertifying it. Buying from the outlet you do get the same 21 day return period and 1 yrs parts/labor warranty w/ onsite service (unless you upgrade the warranty for more $$$).

Since you appear to be foreign and having a friend in the US buy it, I would recommend letting the friend test it out to make sure it's not severely defective/blemished before you get it in another country.

Typically Dell ships them 1 business day after placing the order, then ground shipping usually takes 2-5 days depending on where its going to in the US and where it shipped from (usually TX or TN).

The main difference between the 1420 and 1520 is screen size (14" vs 15.4" respectively). Obviously the overall size/weight of the laptops are slightly smaller/bigger as well to accomodate the different sized LCDs.

I purchased the laptop in my signature from the Dell Outlet 2 weeks ago and I must say I was quite pleased. No blems or problems so far. Just the issue with the grainy Samsung screen, but Dell is working with me on replacing it. For that alone I recommended the Outlet. They still treat the refurbs as well as full price customers.

Like a few others here, I also got my XPS1530 through the dell outlet a few weeks ago. I highly recommend it -- the machine is in great shape, is under warranty, and was a fantastic deal.

If you can find the 1420 config you want, I'd say by all means go for it. Only advice I'd have is that if you want to play some games on it (you mentioned Counter Strike and PE6), that you'll probably want to put a little more into the graphics ... at least the 8400GS instead of the X3100. Not sure if the X3100 is up for those games or not.

I'd recommend the outlet, even though this last time they shipped me the wrong power adapter for the computer. I've bought from them in the past and haven't had a problem except this one time.

Just take a look at all the posts on this forum. You'll see countless post of EXTREMELY picky people returning their laptops for the dumbest reasons, when there is actually NOTHING wrong with the laptop. Those are the ones they sell at the oultet. The majority do not have any major defects or flaws....basicly they're still brand new!

There is a help file for those options if you click on the filter text, I think. New PC's are added to that all the time so with a few hours of patient searching you could probably find the ideal PC for you.
I would recommend building a laptop on the main website so that you can decide on your ideal hardware components and using that as a base price for choosing a good deal on the Outlet.
My current PC (in sig) I got from the outlet and I think it's awesome. Plus, it cost $600 less than if I bought it new.
