    From past years, do the prices usually go up or down after school starts back up? :cool:

    You mean the whole 2 Gigs free and the 160 gig drive on the Inspiron? Yeah, normally it costs 150 to get the "upgrade" from 1 gig to 2 gigs (Totally ripping you off in my opinion), but they increase the base ones to 100 bucks more, so in essence you saved 50 bucks.

    My 1400 Vostro now costs 100 dollars more. :)

    Dell's prices tend to be pretty standard (inside of $100 for the same systems).

    I've been watching them since Jan and always configured roughly the same lappy for $1500 w/o coupons. Things that will lower your price are:

    * Speical Deals (I got the 160GB and 2GB RAM upgrade)
    * Coupons (I used a $300 off, currently $325 off)

    Also keep in mind what should happen when demand goes up and supply goes down (as is the case w/ lappy computer the last month). Price may go up and I think it has for certain components of these. Overall I doubt price will go up since the demand will drop after September considering school.

    Not only will the demand drop, but the supply will go up too... their parts shortages aren't likely to last forever. So... I wouldn't be surprised to see some better deals in a couple months.

    I think historically, October is when computers in general are the cheapest.

    I've been monitoring the price of a notebook with the same specs that I got for the past few dell released coupons and I can say that still, NOTHING BEATS the free 2gb ram and 160 gb hd upgrade. At first I thought it was just some marketing tool to say "free," but it is indeed cheaper.

    Prices should be going down in September when Intel releases the T7250 and drops prices on other processors.
