    Like they buy the basic non elite 1720s but is as powerful as a 1420 or a 1520? Why? Just for a bigger screen? Do people do this often?

    yes. there are many people like you that like big screens. especially if it is mostly a desktop computer, it doesnt make sense to get the 1420 imo.
